Currently lives in Antwerp-Belgium.

Currently plays as a member in following bands:

  • Maak’s Spirit: a Belgian/French contemporary jazzband.
  • Tous Dehors: french jazz (mini)big band around Laurent Dehors.

Played in following bands:

  • Ben Sluys quartet.
  • Kris Defoort Dreamtine with Claron McFadden and Quatuor Danel.

Started following groups together with other members:

  • Coca-cola met God:Tim Van Hamel & Eric Thielemans performing and playing punkjazz and electrotrash.
  • Celine : improv trio with Alex Waterman (cello) and Jean-Yves Evrard(guitar).
  • We Are You: an improv-rockband with Tom Van Laere (Admiral Freebee) and Roland van Campenhout.
  • Veldwerk: a free improv jazz/electro etcetera band with Wimbo + guests.

Works as a leader or solo:

  • a Snare is a Bell-Solo: solo snaredrumpiece based on the harmonic resonances created by pressrolling the shit out of it. A piece inspired by my blood/genetic code and psychodramatic youth. Inspired by my African shaman brothers. a collaboration with Phillip Metten creating a scenography/installation and Laure Delamotte-Legrand lending her eyes.
  • a Snare is a Bell-Orchestra #1: a first version of an orchestra around snaredrumrollsolo with: Sainkho Namchylak (voice), Peter Jacquemyn (double bass), Jozef Dumoulin (piano) and Eric Thielemans (drums).
  • RRAUW : a multidisciplinary search into the many qualities of silence…with oa Barre Phillips, Jean-Yves Evrard, Erik Vermeulen, Ned Rothenberg, Alex Waterman, Laure Delamotte-Legrand, Jorgen Cassier, Alexis Destoop, Raymond Mallentier…
  • 18 Suns of June: a duet with Kari-Anne Bjerkestrand (NO) combining dance and music.

Works as artistic producer:

  • Romeo & Laila: cd of Tunesian singer Ghalia released in 2006.
  • Stroke: cd by Maak’s Spirit with South-African spoken word artists. (to be released in 2007)

Spending time in Africa working with several trance-music masters of Gnaoua music and Bambaramusic from Mali.

Teaching as guestteacher at Antwerp conservatory and Lemmensinstituut Leuven. Workshops and masterclasses at BlueNoteFestival Gent.
